Feedback from Lodge Guest “Tumby” Tom Tierney

GUEST FEEDBACKApril 2024

Recently we received a report from “Tumby” Tom Tierney who had just returned from Barra Lodge with a group of friends. Tumby is a renowned South Australian angler who pioneered beach fishing for huge mulloway and is widely regarded as the best King George whiting fisherman in SA. Over several decades he has competed in and won many angling championships. Here’s what Tumby had to say:

“I have just returned from 5 great days fishing at the Barra Lodge, Maningrida.  I have fished all over the world and can honestly say this is one of the most professionally run fishing camps l have ever been to.  The service was exceptional and the variety and quality of meals were the best l have ever experienced.  Then there was the fishing.  Probably the most experienced and helpful guides l can remember fishing with.  Our group of 9 anglers caught in the vicinity of 650-700 fish comprising just over 450 barra, with the biggest being 93cm. The group also caught numerous black jewfish to 119cm, stacks of mangrove jacks, Spanish mackerel, golden snapper and quite a lot of trevally species up to 10kg, plus a few queenfish. Everyone in our group had a great time”.
