Wollongong is a gateway to a lot of fishing. Situated to the south of the Royal National Park, it is a popular lanch location for boats heading north to the many close-in and offshore reefs off the National Park and Stanwell Park. Offshore directly out from Austinmer and Bellambi Point there are excellent areas for game fish including marlin and tuna. Directly offshore from Wollongong there are Finders Islet, Bass Islet and Big Island. These are good areas to look for smaller pelagics and yellowtail kingfish.
